The North York Storm is proud to introduce that we will field an Intermediate AA Program for the 2019-20 season, our 25th Season. The NORTH YORK STORM IAA HOCKEY TEAM WILL…
- Provide Ontario female athletes with an opportunity to play Intermediate AA hockey
- Compete vs. Intermediate AA/U21 hockey teams in U21 showcase events
- Compete vs. Canadian University Teams and US Colleges in Exhibition games
- Practice and train more than the average female junior hockey program
- Provide athletes with a dedicated Dressing Room, Players Lounge and NYS Off-Ice Athletic Facility - a players very own gym!
- Provide tutoring and education mentorship for high school and transition to university/college
- Be an affordable and efficient way to help players advance to the next level
- Compete in OWHA Provincials
To our North York Storm family and prospective families:
We would like to introduce to all of our current players, their families and prospective players and families to a new and special expansion team that will lead our organization from a flagship position. In line with our vision for the past five years and complimenting our already successful Program of Excellence, this will be a mode of motivation to succeed into the future of North York Storm hockey for years to come.
The program will be shared and involved with teams from Novice to Midget with a mission to provide the players of NYS with a place to learn and grow into higher level hockey players. This program is being added as an option for committed, elite athletes who strive for excellence. It will represent the North York Storm organization and the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association with pride in student success, university exposure and undeniable commitment to player growth and personal development.
After 25 years of providing our faithful membership with a fun, dependable, dynamic and committed hockey program; we are pleased to announce the inaugural season for the North York Storm Junior Team, set to embark on its first season in 2019-2020.
The team will compete in various U21/Intermediate AA tournaments and season play.
Practice and Development Details:
- Our practice facility is located at Jane/Keele/Steeles and the 407 @ York University Canlan Ice Sports
- 3 Weekly On-Ice Practices
- 2 Weekly Off-Ice Fitness and Recovery
- 1 Weekly Video Review Session
- Access to Personal Gym facility located on site
- Dedicated Team Dressing Room located on site
- Office / Work space and Player Lounge for study hall located on site
- Full restaurant for players and parents
- TTC subway access and Go Station hub for players
Competition Details:
- Application to the Provincial Women's Hockey League has been requested
- The PWHL is Ontario's premier women's hockey league, however, there are alternate avenues available that are actively used for current teams like Ottawa 67s, HTI, Ridley, etc.
- Most University/College exposure is provided through showcase tournaments, both American and Canadian accompanied with personal video reference. We will compete in a combination of the following events:
- NAHA CanAm
- Stoney Creek
- Ridley College Exhibition Series
- USA-CANADA CUPS
- Buffalo Inferno
- Tournoi Quebec CEGEP
- JWHL Harborcentre
- Host event
- OWHA Provincials
